Right from ariyakudi, MDR (ur favorite) to Maharajapuram Santhanam, all leading singers belongs to Thyagaraja sishya parampara. She is the only one who hails from Muthuswami Dikshitar sishya parampara. Since u like MDR's music, u can also try DK Jayaraman (DKP's brother and disciple) - slow music pregnant with bhavam. Try earlier recordings of Unnikrishnan, nowadays i feel his music has deteriorated a bit. Unike you, I find Aruna Sairam really really good except she's boring nowadays due to her stereotyped presentations. Btw, I am an amateur carnatic fan.
